Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, S.J., former professor of Faculty of Theology, Sophia University and former Superior General of the Society of Jesus, passed away on May 20.

Fr. Nicolás fostered many students of Sophia University with his passion as well as devoted himself in doing pastoral work among poor immigrant in Japan and East Asia whilst serving responsible posts at the Society of Jesus, our university’s founding institution. In January 2008, Fr. Nicolás was elected the 30th Superior General of the Society of Jesus, had contributed in carrying the Society’s mission with his utmost effort.

The entire Sophia community is deeply saddened by this loss and extends its sincere condolences.
