Career-related Publications

Self-Discovery Magazine『SOPHIA STYLE』

This brochure is compiled by the university’s Career Center every year and distributed to students in their freshman year.

It contains interviews with current students and graduates, who can provide useful role models for students that are starting to think about their future. Readers can get a better understanding of what students in the years above them and former students who have already graduated have focused on and what actions they are carrying out.

“SOPHIA STYLE” is a useful source of insights about what freshmen will need to be doing during their time at university, and of hints for practical actions that they can take.

Job-hunting Guide for Overseas Students Enrolled at Sophia University

The number of overseas students studying in Japan who are interested in working for a Japanese company after graduation has been increasing, while at the same time Japanese companies have been rapidly globalizing their operations, and so in recent years they have become more enthusiastic about hiring overseas students. However, it is still the case that most Japanese companies will not relax their recruitment standards just because the applicant is an overseas student, and so it must be said that the barriers faced by overseas students when it comes to securing employment in Japan remain high.

This guide provides hints that will help overseas students to understand how job-hunting in Japan works, so that they can begin the process of seeking post-graduation employment as smoothly as a Japanese student. Overseas students currently enrolled at Sophia University can access the guide via Web Piloti (please note that the guide is only available to currently enrolled students).
