On March 1^st, 2023, President Yoshiaki Terumichi of Sophia University visited the Catholic University of Portugal (located in Lisbon, Portugal) for the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement between the two universities. At the ceremony, President Terumichi congratulated the two universities, stressing, “This agreement will further strengthen the relationship between the two universities and lead to a new stage of international cooperation.” Rector Isabel Capeloa Gil of the Catholic University of Portugal responded, “With this visit, we hope to expand the possibilities for cooperation.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the delegation had an opportunity to discuss with the deans of the Catholic University of Portugal on the possibilities of cooperation in various areas such as student exchange, international collaborative education, and joint research. This visit symbolically strengthened the foundation of cooperation between the two universities. Sophia University will actively explore the areas of collaboration with the Catholic University of Portugal in various fields.
