The Kuma River is nicknamed the “Abaregawa” (raging river), as it is known as one of the three fastest-flowing rivers in Japan. In 2020, massive flooding occurred due to heavy rainfall, resulting in more than 50 deaths and damaged more than 7400 houses.
This workshop is intended to report the lessons from this disaster and discuss ways forward.
