Sophia University Graduation Ceremony March 2022 will be held as below.

If the future situation changes enough to affect the holding of the ceremony, we will notify that on the flowing web page “【IMPORTANT NOTICE】Information on COVID-19 shown in ” 2. “ below.

1. The Graduation Ceremony for Undergraduate Faculties, Graduate Programs and Course of Midwifery
(1) DATE:

 Monday, March 28, 2022

(2) VENUE:

 Hall A, Tokyo International Forum (Tokyo International Forum WEBsite)

* It will be held at the same venue for Undergraduate Faculties, Graduate Programs and Course of Midwifery.

* The ceremony will be live streamed on YouTube. The URL of YouTube will be given to students on LOYOLA and to parents and guarantors in the information letter that will be sent by post in the middle of March.

・Admission of parents and guarantors to the venue
If parents or guardians wish to attend the ceremony, Sophia University has decided that only one parent or guardian will be admitted in addition to the graduate student him/herself.

An invitation letter will be sent to the parents/guarantors by post around 17th March, so please bring the entire envelope with you to the event.
Please note that if the parents/guarantor reside abroad, the information letter will be sent to the student’s address in the country.

* There will be two sessions on the day, one in the morning and a second in the afternoon depending on the faculty or graduate program.

∗ Once the ceremony begins, there will be a period of time when you will not be allowed to enter due to the progress of the ceremony. The graduates might not be able to enter if they are late for the ceremony.

* The venue will be crowded just before the opening ceremony starts. We ask for your cooperation in entering the venue at least 15 minutes before the opening ceremony. (Updated on March 15)

*Please confirm the important notice to all graduating students about the Graduation Ceremony March 2022 in LOYOLA system.

*This year, there will be no invitation letter and admission ticket for graduates. You will need to show your student ID to gain entry on the day.

*If parents/guarantors are invited to attend, they will receive an invitation letter to the ceremony on or about March 17, so please bring the entire envelope with you to the event and present the envelope at the reception on the day. (Updated on March 15)


●Guidelines for the Graduation Ceremony (to avoid the spread of COVID-19):

-The ceremony will be live streamed on YouTube for parents and guarantors (URL of YouTube will be given to students on LOYOLA and to parents and guarantors in the information letter that will be sent by post in the middle of March.).

-The seat will be decided in order of the entry.

-There are no waiting room or space for accompanying people in the Tokyo International Forum.

-Kindly understand that it’ll be required to measure the body temperature, sanitize your hands at the entrance and to keep a mask on.

– Those who have fever or cold-like symptoms cannot enter the hall.

– If you are not comfortable attending the ceremony considering Covid-19 risk, please do not force yourself to participate, but watch YouTube at home and join in.

(4) Faculty/Graduate School Meeting

Venue:  Sophia University, Yotsuya Campus

Time: 
Morning session group: 12:00 noon~
Afternoon session group: 3:45 p.m.~

・Each meeting will end differently.
・For more information about the classrooms, please refer to the announcement on LOYOLA and the ceremony schedule distributed on the day.

■On the day of the graduation ceremony, we ask for the cooperation of all visitors except those related to the graduation ceremony to avoid congestion on the campus.

■Please be sure to leave the campus by 3:00 p.m. for graduates/completers in the morning session and by 5:30 p.m. for graduates/completers in the afternoon session.

■Parents and guarantors are requested to keep their stay to the campus as short as possible.

 
(5) Commencement Service (in Japanese)

Venue:Main Chapel, St Ignatius Church

Time: 2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Number of applications received: 100 (on a first-come, first-served basis)
Eligible people: Graduate students only
How to register: You can register via the URL or QR code that will be given on LOYOLA on Monday 28 February.
*If the event is cancelled or changed due to infection, it will be informed on LOYOLA.

・9 Cafe: 10:00-15:00

・7-Eleven Convenience Store, Building 12: 10:00-15:00

・Kinokuniya Bookstore, Patina Sports: 10:00-18:00

2. [Important Notice] Information on COVID-19

【To “avoid or prevent infection” on this fine day】(Updated on March 15)

・Please wash and disinfect hands at all times.
・Please wear a non-woven mask at all times and refrain from loud conversations.

・Be sure to be seated in the designated seat indicated on your ticket.
・To avoid congestion, you will be asked to leave the venue in order, please follow the announcement.

<< When moving from the exit to Yotsuya Campus after the ceremony >>
・Meeting in the lobby when exiting is prohibited to avoid crowding. Please do not stop in the middle and exit the building promptly.
・When using public transportation, please wear a mask and refrain from loud voices and chattering there.

<< At Yotsuya Campus>>
・On the day of the event, please enter the campus through the North Gate.
・Graduates/completion students themselves and their parents/guarantors will be allowed to enter the campus on the day.
・When standing in line, please keep a safe distance from the person in front of you at all times on campus.
・In order to reduce congestion on campus participants in the morning ceremony should leave the campus by 3:00 p.m., and participants in the afternoon ceremony by 5:30 p.m.
・Eating and drinking in large groups and talking without a non-woven mask greatly increases the risk of infection; please be careful and act responsibly so as not to interfere with your new life after April.
