Portable Wifi Hotspot & Laptop Rental for Students

As in the spring semester, the university will provide portable Wifi hotspot & laptop rental services for students who are challenged with difficulties in preparing the required environment for Online Classes (PCs, tablet devices such iPads, etc. Wifi or other Internet connection) due to their financial circumstances, etc. However, please understand that the market is currently low on supply and the number of devices available are limited and that we may not be able to accommodate all requests.

We will limit rentals to students who are in urgent need of the service. Please refrain from applying if you already have the required environment but wish to apply just in case, already have plans to purchase a device but would prefer to rent one, or would like use a newer model than the one in your possession. Given these difficult times, we ask students to act in accordance to the educational spirit of “Men and Women for Others, with Others” so that the necessary devices can be delivered to those who need it.

If we are unable to check the status of your usage, we will stop the communication or ask you to return it.

As we have no idea how the situation will develop beyond the four-month period, while it is possible to join online classes with a smartphone, we strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to obtain your own PC so that you will be able to prepare reports.

      Four months from late September
  4. Fees:
      Rental fees will be free of charge / However, students will be asked to pay the shipping costs (2,200-3,300 yen) for delivery and return


  • Students eligible to rent devices will individually receive notice by Loyola after the deadline.
    (In case the number of applications exceeds the number of devices available, all applicants will be notified of the results of the screening.)
  • Apart from the lending service, we are preparing to sell SoftBankAir (unlimited capacity) for Sophia University students.
    Details will be announced on the Loyola bulletin board as soon as it is decided.

  • Consultations are limited to email because we are operating with minimal number of staff. Please allow a few days for us to respond.
