MEET OUR STAFF

The faculty office helps create an environment where students can learn and grow with confidence. From everyday support to the management of major academic events, meet a staff member dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and the learning community.

I’ve worked in four departments since joining Sophia School Corporation. I transferred to the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Graduate Program in Global Studies Office in 2021 and am now in my sixth year there, helping run both the undergraduate program and the graduate program as team leader. My work spans curriculum, admissions, personnel, events such as the entrance and graduation ceremonies, and student advising, essentially everything the faculty and program involve. What I value most is the balance between empathy and coordination. The Faculty of Liberal Arts brings together students and faculty from many different backgrounds, so I stay mindful of that range of viewpoints and decide only after careful, repeated conversation. When trouble arises, rather than simply stating the rules, I start by listening and adjust our response case by case.

There is nothing glamorous in this daily work, no string of major projects to point to. Even so, the small “thank you” I hear each day, and the satisfaction of solving a problem with colleagues, keep me going. Seeing students at their graduation ceremonies, I remember how hard they worked, and quietly savor the joy of having got them there, much like a proud parent.
