Sophia University and St. Xavier’s College Jaipur (hereinafter SXCJ) held a MOU signing ceremony on June 19,2024 at Sophia University.

SXCJ is a Jesuit college located in the state of Rajasthan, northwestern India, and Sophia has developed a cooperative relationship with the institution by supporting for the launch of an academic journal and holding classes at SXCJ by Sophia faculty members.

Based on the University’s initiative to further relations with India, which is a country rapidly developing, Sophia University has concluded this MOU with the aim of actively building a cooperative relationship through research exchanges and other means in the future.

India, which is experiencing rapid economic growth, is one of the countries that is becoming more and more present in global society. To strengthen ties with the region, Sophia University currently has established academic partnerships with 14 universities and colleges.

“Socio-economic and Human Development Study of India: Case Study of Kerala Model” is one of the Social Engagement Programs offered in collaboration with the Indian partners during summer vacation. Through preliminary lectures and field studies, students are provided opportunities to examine issues facing India, such as economic development, labor issues and environmental crisis, as well as to learn about India’s rapid growth and the relationship between Japan.

Sophia University will host an event called “India Week at Sophia University” from July 1st to July 3rd to promote understanding of India.
