Launched on July 1st, 2015, the Sophia Institute of International Relations (SIIR) seeks to contribute to peace and development in this globalizing world through advancement of research and education in the field of international relations.

Activities

SIIR undertakes research projects on a wide range of issues in international relations, particularly in the fields of security and international political economy. For this purpose, SIIR seeks to collaborate with research institutes and researchers throughout Japan and overseas. Ongoing research projects at SIIR include “Japan and the Crisis of Liberal International Order”, “Human Security and Peace Building”, and “Japanese Diplomacy and Scurity in a Period of International Changes.” SIIR also holds a number of symposia, seminars, and lectures on international relations.
