Sophia University Ranked in Four Subjects in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 7pm (JST), the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 were announced, and Sophia University was ranked in four academic subjects.
The subjects and rankings are as follows:
- Linguistics:251-300
- Modern Languages:201-250
- Politics & International Studies:301-400
- Sociology:301-375
QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a UK-based global higher education analytics company, evaluates universities worldwide based on various indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, and the H-index, which measures research impact. The QS rankings are widely recognized as a key benchmark for assessing the quality of higher education institutions globally.
Sophia University has consistently ranked in Linguistics and Modern Languages in previous years, reflecting its strong foundation in language education and research. This year, for the first time, the university was also ranked in Politics & International Studies and Sociology, highlighting the growing strength and recognition of these fields at Sophia.
With this achievement, Sophia University is now ranked in four subjects, placing it fifth among private universities in Japan in terms of the number of ranked subjects.
