Preventing the spread of infection during Summer Break

To All Students

Vice President for Student and General Affairs
Director, Center for Student Affairs

A State of Emergency was declared once again in Tokyo on July 12 and the number of infections is continuing to increase due to the highly contagious Delta variant.

Infections among young people are especially rising and with summer break starting next week, we would like to ask all Sophians to practice proper prevention strategies to prevent the spread of infection.

With everyone’s cooperation with Sophia New Normal, introduced in the spring in order to safely conduct in-person classes in the 2021 academic year, we have kept the number of on-campus infections low.

We would like to ask for your continued support and understanding for the upcoming autumn semester to ensure a safe campus life by continuing to practice proper prevention measures such as wearing a mask and washing your hands frequently.

Remind yourself of Sophia New Normal’s message “Caring for Each Other” and act responsibly. We would also like to bring attention to the following.

*Notice Regarding Travel and Eating/Drinking

The Japanese Government, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and Local Governments have all called for attention to refrain from eating or drinking both outside and at home in large groups or for long periods of time.

In addition, please refrain from non-essential travel outside your prefecture of residence.

If you must travel, please make sure to monitor your health and practice proper prevention measures at least two weeks before travelling.

[About Telephone Health Counseling Service]

Many people are experiencing anxiety and stress caused by the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

If you become sick or are injured, there may even be a delay in receiving care from a hospital or clinic. Starting from this year the University has started offering a free telephone health counseling service where you can consult about health matters with experienced medical staff.

Please check “Loyola Bulletin Board” for information.
