Exchange Meeting Between Sophia University Students and Young Diplomats from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, an exchange meeting between Sophia University students and young diplomats from the People’s Republic of China was held at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan. The meeting was attended by Sophia University former President Yoshiaki Terumichi, former Vice Presidents Takashi Irohara and Tetsuo Morishita, staff from the Office of Global Education and Collaboration, and 21 students from Sophia University. From the Chinese Embassy, Ambassador Wu Jianghao, Minister Zhao Baogang, Minister-Counselor Du Kewei, Counselor Guo Jun, and 15 young diplomats participated.

During the exchange meeting, students and young diplomats first experienced Chinese ink painting, calligraphy, and painting, and tried on various historical ethnic costumes of China, deepening their cultural exchange.Following this, representatives of the students and young diplomats shared their past experiences related to Japan-China friendship exchanges, their impressions of the current meeting, and their expectations for future exchanges between young people from both countries.

Finally, Ambassador Wu emphasized the importance of deepening exchanges and mutual understanding among the youth of both countries, encouraging Japanese university students to visit China more frequently to directly observe the development and changes in modern China. President Terumichi also expressed his hope that students would actively engage in exchanges with China using university and other platforms, learn from each other, and deepen friendships with Chinese students in Japan.
