Practical Education Program “Learning International Politics of Washington DC”

Practical Education Program “Learning International Politics of Washington DC” was held from March 10 to 18 lead by Professor by Special Appointment Tsuyoshi Sunohara of The Nikkei. 22 students from freshman to senior attended the second round of this program following the last spring.
Participating students visited the U.S. State Department, the Congressional Research Service as well as renowned think tanks including The Brookings Institution to attend lectures to learn about revolving international politics by leading experts.

Students also had wide range of opportunities including hearing briefings at Japanese Embassy and ANA Washington Office, learning about casino business and also visiting the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). On the last day after attending the joint lecture given at Georgetown University, Sophia and Georgetown students enjoyed exchanges. Many students claimed they captured visions of their future through such an exciting program. We sincerely hope for them to propel as global citizens.
