The Japan Association of Catholic Universities and Junior Colleges, of which Sophia University is a member, issued a peace statement

The Japan Association of Catholic Universities and Junior Colleges (established in 1956, Chairperson: Yoshiaki Yedo, President of Sophia University) is an organization that aims to promote and elevate Catholic universities and junior colleges in Japan, and contribute to the advancement of scholastic culture, thereby fulfilling the mission of Catholic education. Currently, 19 universities and 10 junior colleges are members.

At its General Assembly held in June 2024, the Association resolved to issue a “Statement of Peace” as a Catholic educational institution, deeply concerned about the people suffering from the ravages of war in Ukraine and Palestine.
