Dr. Sadako Ogata, Professor Emeritus at Sophia University and the former UN refugee chief passed away on October 22.
Her long years of service and achievement gained great and wider spread respect for the public. Her tremendous effort was put in development of higher education as well as supporting youth to excel worldwide. Serving as UN High Commissioner for Refugees and President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency she put contribution at the forefront in solving global issues.
The entire Sophia community is deeply saddened by this loss and extends its sincere condolences.
