In her address, President Miki Sugimura referred to a passage from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark introduced by Fr. Firmansyah, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”   She encouraged the graduates by saying, “The kind of leader who serves those in the most trying situations is precisely what Sophia University strives to cultivate. With our educational spirit of ‘For Others with Others’ in your heart, I hope you will stand by the socially sidelined and vulnerable in your chosen fields.”

The representatives of the graduating students shared their enthusiasm for the future

Degree recipients included 13 doctoral students (including one doctoral student by special exception), 80 master’s students, 1 student in the professional degree program, and 248 undergraduate students. Doctoral degrees were conferred in person by President Sugimura to all attending students, as well as to representatives from each of the master’s programs and undergraduate faculties.

Following congratulatory speeches by Chancellor Sali Augustine and Masao Torii, President of Sophia Alumni Association, Taufika Islam Anee (Doctoral Program in Science and Technology, Graduate School of Science and Technology) took the podium on behalf of the graduating students to deliver her acknowledgement speech.
