Featuring a Lecture by the Indian Ambassador to Japan and a Joint Workshop with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, a Leading Science and Engineering Institution

Sophia University will host “Sophia India Week” from Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

India, known for its rapid economic growth and abundant market opportunities, boasts a high standard of education, especially in the fields of science and engineering. Sophia University has designated India as a strategic region for promoting globalization. On April 5, 2024, we signed a partnership agreement with the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), renowned for cultivating top talent in the global IT industry. 

To commemorate the partnership agreement with the IITD, Sophia will host “Sophia India Week.” The event will include a symposium titled “Future of Japan and India: The Role of Universities,” with keynote speaker His Excellency Mr. Sibi George, the Indian Ambassador to Japan, focusing on strengthening Japan-India relations through collaboration between industry, government, and academia.

Additionally, a workshop on “Transportation Science and Technology” will be conducted by researchers from both Sophia University and the IITD.

In addition to a keynote speech by Ambassador Sibi George and lectures by faculty from our university and the IITD, we will invite guests from Japanese companies deeply involved with India, as well as representatives from JICA and JETRO. The discussions will focus on the nature of the India-Japan partnership from the perspectives of industry, government, and academia.
