Sophia University has completed the switch to 100% renewable energy on all campuses. As a result, all electricity used on all Sophia University campuses, approximately 22 million kWh per year, has been switched to energy sources that emit virtually no CO2.
By switching to renewable energy for the essential electricity students use daily, we are also helping to change their mindsets.

Contracted with a solar power generation facility and began electricity self-sufficiency
Sophia University has switched to 100% renewable energy for electricity used on all campuses and is also working to achieve electricity self-sufficiency through a newly established solar power plant.
Before the start of electricity transmission, student staff members visited the power plant in January 2025 and have been working to spread the knowledge and insights gained from the visit. This video is a documentary of the student staff members working hard to promote solar power and spread the word about these efforts. Please take a look at Sophia University’s progress towards sustainability through the students.
