U.S. Women's History I, the Revolutionary Era to the Antebellum Era

○講義概要

建国期から南北戦争までのアメリカ合衆国の女性の歴史を概観します。ジェンダー，人種という概念を踏まえて，「共和国の母」「領域論」をはじめとするアメリカ女性史の基礎となる理論を学びます。女性と社会の関わり方をみながらどのようにジェンダーが形成され変容したか，女性史の古典や一次資料の抜粋を読みながら，東部白人中流女性のケースを中心に考察し，同時代の黒人女性，インディアン女性のケースも検討します。授業は教員の講義、学生のプレゼンテーション、討議で進めます。

○評価方法

出席状況(20%)、授業参画(15%)、リアクションペーパー(25%)、レポート(40%)
リアクション･ペーパー：クラスの電子ボードに各自４回、課題文献についての批判的感想、問題提起を300-400字程度で前日の４時までに書き込みます。クラス全員、課題文献に加え、その書き込みを読んでから授業に臨みます。書き込みとプレゼンテーションを土台にクラス討議を行います。

○テキスト

課題文献はクラスの電子ボードに提供します。
後期にはアメリカのGeorge Washington University, Department of American Studies（ワシントンD.C.)の「アメリカ女性史」受講生と電子Blackboardを使って、共通テーマについてウェブ･デイスカッションを行う予定です。１０月のテーマは「アメリカ女性史I」の課題文献に基づいていますので、「アメリカ女性史II」受講希望者のうち、「アメリカ女性史I」未修の学生はなるべく受講することを勧めます。
