| ○講義概要 |
The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to study of religion in modern societies. Various perspectives and methods will be considered, but the course will be primarily sociological in orientation and give particular attention to classical and contemporary theories of secularization and sacralization. Lectures, readings, and class discussions will cover the debates regarding the decline of traditional religion as a result of modernization and the development of new patterns of religious expression and involvement in secular society.
