◆TOPICS IN JAPANESE ART HISTORY - (後)
YONEKURA MICHIO
○講義概要
The goal of this class is to develop the student’s understanding of the basic framework for studying Japanese art history.
An artwork is a visual form that takes shape as a result of a collection of various ideas, materials and techniques. Japanese artwork evolved while jointly possessing common materials and techniques with other areas of Eastern Asia. These materials and techniques are the basis of expression for the art. However, the phenomena of art do not exist only by the means of the physical work itself. A work of art is realized through the mediation of ideas and skills of various people and it is viewed, worshipped and talked about by people. Further, it deviates from its original role and becomes an object of collection and becomes the treasure of an exhibition. All of these constituents contribute to form a phenomenon called art. These issues can become subjects of study in art history. That is to say that all aspects that constitute the phenomena of art can become the subject of study in art history. In this course we will pick up a number of basic issues such as “themes of art works” and “visual forms” from among the numerous possible areas of study.
