Early Language Learning
○講義概要
This course aims to train students in both the theory and the practical application of teaching English to children. As Japan continues to bring English education to the elementary level, there is an increasing demand for teachers trained in the language acquisition of children. We will examine elementary-level foreign language education in the United States, and we will analyze program models, standards, curricula, assessment and teaching methods of U.S. primary school foreign language programs.

In addition, students will be required to participate in one of three fieldwork projects: teaching English to elementary students at Musashino-shi Daisan Elementary School, assessing the Daisan FLEX model program or assessing the English abilities of preschool English students. Training, curriculum and materials will be provided for each project.

出席状況、授業参画、リアクションペーパー、レポート、前期学期末試験(授業期間中)、小テスト等
Students will be evaluated on class participation, quizzes, tests, fieldwork, final reports and presentations. Active participation and excellent attendance are imperative and will affect the grade students earn.
