○講義概要 |
In this class we will examine the politico-economic system of the United States and the way it affects the lives of the people. We will begin by looking at the system of government as it was intended in the Constitution. We will then look at two polar ty@es of economic systems, capitalism and socialism; the concentration of corporate and individual wealth; the link between the political system and economic elites; and the ways in which the system is biased in favor of those already advantaged, starting with the Reagan Administration. In the second half of the term we will examine concrete examples of how the system has influenced education, amateur and professional sports, the lives of working people both at home and abroad, and the environment.
