○講義概要 |
The period 1975-90 is emerging as a distinctive era in American film history deserving of exploration. An era of mythmaking and the blockbuster phenomenon in the mainstream commercial industry, it also saw the flourishing of "identity"-oriented alternative practices and renewed energies in independent filmmaking and documentary, among other forms. While focusing on cinema as an aesthetic form created through varied modes of production, this course will also investigate cultural and social frameworks of this period in film history, in particular the Reagan Era in U.S. politics. Films of Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, Lizzie Borden, Jim Jarmusch and Spike Lee will be among those screened.
