| ○講義概要 |
This course provides a comprehensive history of Canada for those students interested in learning about how Canada developed into a modern democratic nation.
Beginning with the arrival of the native peoples many thousands of years earlier, we will listen to the story of how Canada gradually developed into a multicultural society as new people arrived from Europe, Great Britain and other parts of the world.
Subsequently, we will hear how the meeting of the land by these diverse peoples produced distinctive patterns of economic, political and cultural development.
Grade for this course are based on attendance, participation in class discussion and a term paper on a historical topic.
There is no text for the course, but students are expected to use the extensive materials available in the Canadian section of the Institute of American and Canadianstudies.
