The amount and available percentage of ordinary expense subsidies for private universities shows a decreasing trend. The ordinary expense subsidies granted to Sophia University have also been decreasing in recent years, whereas the subsidies for the Junior College Division remain the same every year.

Since Academic Year 2009, Sophia University has been selected for its efforts made in internationalization as recipient of grants for “Project for Establishing University Network for Internationalization (Global30)”, “Project for Promotion of Global Human Resource Development”, “Re-inventing Japan Program”.
