6-1 Number of items in Library collections
In Academic Year (AY) 2011, the digitization of the Library catalog was completed; the data on the total number of items in the collection starts from AY 2012. In AY 2012 to 2014, there were no significant changes in the number of books and other materials, but following the digitization of the catalog, the OPAC system was introduced, enabling a comprehensive search of books housed in libraries at the Yotsuya Campus, the School of Social Welfare, and the Mejiro Seibo Campus. Using this system at the Junior College Division Library, students can request, receive and return books from libraries at other campuses. Library books are selected to suit the educational offerings of the Junior College Division and the characteristics of the school’s students; special sections for books for extensive reading in English and books on teaching English to children, as well as a special section for introductory books on various academic disciplines recommended by the Faculties of Sophia University aid students in selecting departments for transfer applications and in carrying out studies in specialized areas for Seminar courses.

6-2 Library usage statistics
In Academic Year (AY) 2012 the Library’s open hours were extended, resulting in an increase in Library users for that year. However, since then, due to the decrease in the number of students enrolled, the number of Library users has decreased. Circulation statistics are available from AY 2012, following the completion of the digitization of Library catalog completed in AY 2011.
