| ○講義概要 |
| English Composition I is geared towards essay writing and designed to guide you through the process of developing the skills necessary to write a well-structured essay. You will learn how to write narrative, comparison, cause-effect, and argumentative essays, with the most amount of time spent on argumentative essay writing. You will learn how to write about the ideas of others, represent those ideas accurately, analyze those ideas, and incorporate them into your own arguments. You will work toward refining your own essay-writing skills through the development of concise and persuasive arguments, while also taking the time to summarize and critique classmates’ essays. Response to the work of others will be welcomed in a classroom environment that encourages students to speak freely, although respectfully, without the fear of personal attack or harassment. |

| 出席状況(10%)、前期学期末試験(授業期間中)(10%)、後期学期末試験(授業期間中)(10%) Presentation (10%), Miscellaneous Assignments (20%), Essays (40%) All late homework will lose one letter grade for every day it is late. Missing more than 4 classes in any one semester will result in automatic failure of the class. |
