| ○講義概要 |
| Using the textbook, we shall explore various issues in sociolinguistics. Topics surveyed will be: societal bilingualism, diglossia, use of statistics in sociolinguistics, language planning and standardization, language attitudes, language and sex, language choice, etc. Students may have to present regular reports, take mini tests, and write semester-end research papers. No familiarity with sociolinguistics is presumed, but basic knowledge of linguistics, especially of phonology, is expected. |
