This seminar explores following questions: (1) Does the globalization of economic activities lead to convergence in public policies? We critically examine convergence and divergence debates with a special attention to financial and taxation policies; (2) How do the governments respond to global problems (e.g., aging population, feminization of the labor markets, environmental problems, etc.) and how can we explain cross-national similarities and differences? In this section, we mainly discuss social security policies; (3) What are the impacts of the globalization of ideas? More precisely, we explore how the ideology of neo-liberalism diffuses around the world.
