○講義概要 |
This course introduces students to the increasingly subfield of economic sociology within sociology. It considers teh role of institutions, capitalism, states, and culture in the organization of economic activity. Readings assignments occupy the first half of the course. All students are responsible for reading and discussing the assignments. In the second half of the course, we will read two classic works of sociology by Weber and Veblnm each of which was written a century ago. Based on these readings students will develop research projects regarding the selection of meaningful careers and conspicous consumption.
