○講義概要 |
This course focuses on theater as a performing art. It provides instruction and exercises in the various systems that constitute the total spectacle of theatrical performance. This course is offered in two separate parts: Part 1 “From Page to Stage,” focuses on script analysis and stage performance; Part 2 "Experiments in Performance," explores various performance methods and includes the creation of original pieces and adaptations of well-known plays. Production-oriented, the class size is strictly limited to 30 students and can be repeated for credit with the permission of the instructor.. This semester in Part 2, the focus will be on acting and/or adapting scenes from famous plays.

出席状況、授業参画、レポート、前期学期末試験(授業期間中)、中間試験 This course aims at the public production of plays. It is different from other college courses in that 1) the work is based on "hands-on" experience and requires out-of-class time (e.g. the lunch hour and some evening rehearsals); 2) students are assigned different tasks and evaluated on their management of those tasks, rather than being graded for completing similar assignments (e.g. examinations, papers). The tasks range from acting, costume/make-up, carpentry, stage management, to computer graphics, video work, poster designing, and review writing. Required Activities: 1.preparation for stage work; 2. scene work; 3. participation in the lunch shows; 4. Projects: experimental scene work, etc. 5. play review (3-5 pp)
