| ○講義概要 |
The objectives of this course are 1) to discuss and analyze performance texts as readers; 2) to analyze and critique artistic performance as viewers; and 3) to investigate the historical and theoretical underpinnings on how staged artistic representation reflects and shapes culture. The dramatic literature covered will include major Western plays from Greek tragedy, Shakespearean drama, theatre of cruelty, epic theatre, and theatre of the absurd, and major Japanese plays from nōgaku, kabuki, bunraku, shingeki and contemporary little theatre.
