U.S. Women's History, 18th century to the mid-nineteenth century

○講義概要

建国期から南北戦争までのアメリカ合衆国の女性の歴史を概観します。ジェンダー，人種という概念を踏まえて，「共和国の母」「領域論」をはじめとするアメリカ女性史の基礎となる理論を学びます。女性と社会の関わり方をみながらどのようにジェンダーが形成され変容したか，女性史の古典や一次資料の抜粋を読みながら，東部白人中流女性のケースを中心に考察し，同時代の黒人女性，インディアン女性のケースも検討します。授業は教員の講義、学生のプレゼンテーション、討議で進めます。

○評価方法

出席状況(30%)、授業参画(30%)、リアクションペーパー(30%)、レポート(40%)
出席（リアクションペーパー）（30％），授業参加（プレゼンテーション）（30％）
文献を読んで授業に臨むこと。毎回リアクション・ペーパーを書いてもらいます。
