Speeches of Franklin D. Roosevelt
○講義概要
Along with Winston Churchill, FDR is considered to be one of the greatest leaders of the previous century. This course will use video and audio reproductions of some of his greatest speeches. Students who cannot arrive at Sophia by 0915 should not register for this course.

○授業計画
1Prints will be distributed and the schedule for written and oral assignments will be given. The basic theory of public communication will be introduced.
2Biographical details and early speeches.
3Students will present short oral reports about FDR's relatives or friends.
4Early speech studied in detail.
5Early speech studied in detail. Students will write a short
report in English with a rhetorical analysis of one or more of FDR's early speeches.
6Lead-up to World War II. British invitations to involvement in the war on the continent. Churchill's speech "Give us the tools and we will finish the job".
7Entrance of the US into World War II. Pearl Harbor reaction: Day on Infamy Speech.
8State of the Union Address after the entrance into World War II.
9Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt as a speaker.
