Discussing Cinema

| ○講義概要 |
In this class we will screen and discuss many kinds of films that are related to controversial topics or social issues. The films will be used as a basis for discussing the issues and as a launching pad for debate, argument and critical thinking. Students will learn how to build and present arguments, counter arguments and make reasoned, structured presentations. Films that we may use include Kids, Do the Right Thing, Dead Man Walking and many more. Topics may include such issues as Teenage Sex, Racial Discrimination, Immigration Policy, The Death Penalty, Censorship and the War in Iraq.
