| ○講義概要 |
This class will focus on teaching and learning English. Together we will look at how English is taught in Japan and other countries. We will also explore how people learn in general. Some of the question we will look at include: Do all people learn the same way? Do learning and teaching vary according to culture? What do we know about how learners develop? What role does the teacher really play? You will then try to determine what works, what does not, and the reasons why. From here, you will begin to work together with your classmates in developing your ideas and deciding how you would teach a class. You will have many opportunities to work with other students in small groups, talking about your ideas, discussing the readings, and trying out different techniques before teaching a small segment to the class. By the end of the class, you will not only become a better language learner and potential teacher, but a more accomplished speaker, listener, reader, and writer.
