In March 2022, Sophia School of Social Welfare (commonly known as "Shasen") ended its 58-year history. The school has trained and produced professionals in the fields of childcare, social welfare, and nursing care welfare. At the root of its activities was the philosophy of "for Others, with Others," which is the foundation of Christian humanism and the educational spirit of Sophia University. Not only Shasen, but also Sophia University have been making efforts to nurture people who are committed to solving social issues such as poverty, environment, education, and ethics.
The first chapter of this exhibition will focus on the challenges and activities inherited by Shasen from the Jesuits. In Chapter 2, we will introduce the history of the school's founding period, and reflect once again on the significance of the existence of Shasen.
