The Graduate Program in Global Studies emphasizes inquiry into global processes in the contemporary world and their historical antecedents. Its curriculum combines the perspectives and methods of academic disciplines with cross-cultural understandings of Japan and other world regions.The M.A. Program in Linguistics (TESOL) builds on Sophia’s traditional strengths in linguistics and foreign language education. It provides graduate courses similar to those in the United States and Canada with emphasis on both theory and practice.The Green Science and Engineering Division prioritizes environmental and sustainability-related studies, recognizing their crucial role in the future of humankind. To encourage interdisciplinary education, faculty members from eight diverse divisions - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biological Science, and Information Science - are actively involved in both teaching and research guidance.GRADUATE PROGRAMS OFFERED IN ENGLISH
