Academic Written English for Teachers

| ○講義概要 |
This second half of the teacher's course will work on improving the student's English abilities in the written area. It will do so by showing the students certain aspects of academic writing / techniques that the students can learn to teach themselves when they later become teachers. In the main though the focus will be on Academic Writing and the sections and styles that need to be in an academic written paper. As such a decent level of written english will be required for this course. As such there will be little spoken English taught in this second half of the teacher's course (except for class discussions on the effectiveness of techniques / activites) but any spoken or pronunciation errors will be covered as and when they occur. The emphasis will be on Academic Written English as stated. Student's will start with grammar type activities, then such things as structuring written papers, presentations, summarising techniques, etc will be covered. At the end then the students should have learned how to do a certain number of things using written English. More importantly they should then be able to teach these same things using the techniques / activites covered in this part of the course. Finally though the students will write an academic paper on some aspect of teaching English. These will be marked and will account for 80% of the total grades. Furthermore a minimum of 80% attendance is required for this course. Less than this will result in a failure grade or written pap

Attendance of at least 80% of the classes is mandatory, less than this will result in a fail grade being given.

| ○授業計画 |
| 1 | Introductions, class rules, outline of course for the year, explanation of grading system in-depth. The pace of the course will be dependent on the levels of the students and a more thorough course outline will be given during the course. |
