| ○講義概要 |
This course is for students who already have a high degree of fluency in social situations and feel somewhat comfortable expressing an opinion or participating in a discussion in English.In this class we will work on strengthening discussion skills,academic-listening skills and note-taking skills by discussing a variety of topics. We will also do presentations in the 2nd semester. During the first semester we will focus on topics that help us to know and analyze ourselves. These topics will include: Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence, the changing nature of work in the 21st century,dream interpretation and Freud's theory of the unconscious. In the second semester, we will shift our focus outward. Second semester topics include analyzing the social and artistic context of visual art and the history of the blues, in particular in relation to African- American history.

Response journal collected at the end of each semester: 20%

| ○テキスト |
Students should purchase the book if possible before the first class. Students will also receive prints during the course of the class to supplement the book. The teacher will collect 200 yen to cover the cost of prints. Students should prepare a class folder for the class prints.
