○講義概要
This course is for students who can understand, speak, read and write English well and want to develop greater communicative ability orally and in writing. Topics will include current controversial issues of national and international interest. Active in-class participation, out-of-class research, and attendance of 85% or more are required.

Graded discussion group 20%

5Discuss results of public opinion polls about violence on TV
6Discuss the pros and cons of cosmetic surgery for young people
7Present internet research about cosmetic surgery
8Discuss GM foods and write a reaction paper
9Discuss reaction papers in small groups
10Discuss robopets versus live pets
11Choose discussion group members, choose discussion topics, and plan group research
12Share individual research and organize group discussion
13Conduct group discussions on student-selected topics
14Discuss effective ways to acquire English
15Present the pros and cons of education methods, including your personal experiences
16Discuss electing the prime minister by popular vote and design and administer an opinion poll
