LISTENING/SPEAKING COMMUNICATION

| ○講義概要 |
This is mainly an Intermediate level Communication course using listening and speaking but with some sentence writing. In first semester we will follow a weekly Intermediate British video story about young student sharing a house. You will watch the the video and do some written and speaking exercises from your work book. As well, we will practise some TOEIC/TOEFL listening skills, watch and listen to some folk stories from different cultures on the Internet and do some CALL (computer-assisted language learning) multimedia listening activities with your partner. In second semester you will watch short Intermediate video reports and listen to dialogues on hot social and cultural issues, express your opinion and practise small group debates on these topics. The attendance rule will be strictly adhered to.

New Headway Intermediate Video workbook by OUP; an English/English dictionary. Other book will be decided in class.We will mainly be using handouts, activity pages from CALL and the Internet.

| 1 | Introduction to course. Explanation of attendance and grading rule. Deciding on textbook. Doing some speaking and listening activities, getting to know each other. |
