○講義概要 |
This course continues the historical survey of important developments in Western civilization from around 1500 to the Second World War. Major issues of consideration are the Reformation, the Age of Discovery and the impact of Western overseas expansion on the non-European world, the transformation of European societies into pre-modern nation-states, the fall of the Old Order culminating in the French Revolution, the emergence of the great power system in the 19th century, the new wave of colonial expansion (Imperialism), and the origins and consequences of the two world wars of the 20th century.
