Translating Subtitles

| ○講義概要 |
This class is basically the same as the class in the first term, but we will use a different film. Students will work on translating the subtitles of a contemporary Japanese film into English, bearing in mind the possible audience for the film in various English-speaking countries. My aim in the class is not to create the “perfect translation” but for students to become attentive to and interested in the creativity of the translation process itself and to be aware that there are often many possible correct translations. Grades will be based on oral student presentations written work.
