| ○講義概要 |
During the second term we will focus on irony.
First we will study the concept of irony and its historical development. Then we will consider irony from a philosophical point of view, with reference mainly to Plato, and build up an understanding of stable irony and the recognition of irony. Next we will look at romantic irony and the ironic subject. Then we will discuss irony in relation to structuralism and deconstruction of the text, followed by a consideration of satire and the range of irony, its humorous aspects and the postmodern application of irony.

出席状況(30%)、レポート(70%)
Students must attend at least 60% of the course and submit a term paper in order to pass the course. There will also be occasional homework, which will be taken into account when grading.
