Exploring Europe through the Short Story
○講義概要
Turgenev and Maupassant are known as the fathers of the modern short story. Their influence on English and American literature has been huge. Taking their stories as our point of departure we shall attempt to gain an understanding of Russian and French society and culture in the second half of the nineteenth century.
