DESCRIPTION
This seminar is designed for students to understand through primary sources a particular historical theme or period in depth from a comparative and/or contemporary perspective. The special topic for the year 2005 will be the history of food, drink, and drugs in Japan and the World. Every other year.
WORKLOAD
Research, reading, presentation, research paper. This is an experimental class with a small volume of class reading but serious class debates to encourage and support students in the completion of a creative research project. About three to six hours of weekly preparation time expected.
