It showcased the unique academic environment of Sophia University.low students to learn about the history and cultural diversity of Southeast Asia, GED has commercialized its operations, enabling it to organize online programs for students from other universi-ties and high schools, as well as seminars and events for working adults. The location in Bangkok, a global city hosting many inter-national organizations, is ideal for such activities.Of course, the knowledge and insight of university personnel is essential to globalizing the university environment. In 2022, three Sophia personnel went to Strasbourg, France, to exchange opin-ions with their counterparts at the University of Strasbourg, a partner university. They also visited other affiliate organizations during their visit. Several of them also attended the FUB Inter-national Staff Training Week, organized by the Free University of Berlin, Germany, in 2023 and 2024.The above examples demonstrate the multifaceted and diverse qualities of Sophia’s global strategy. Sophia University has just celebrated its 110th anniversary and will continue to pursue re-search and education with global engagement in mind, and to work together with global partners who share its vision.with all global issues, and I want to foster true global leaders who can take on the issues im-mediately in front of them while staying aware of their relationship to other issues,” Terumichi says, commenting on his involvement in SPSF’s founding.The Sophia Future Design Platform (SFDP), a project launched in 2023, aims to realize a multi-layered learning platform for high school students, university students, and adults in the workforce. The following two initiatives are par-ticularly noteworthy.The first, the “Innovation Boot Camp,” is a short-term intensive business course for work-ing adults offered in collaboration with the Haas School of Business at the University of Califor-nia, Berkeley. It features lectures from Haas’s world-class instruc-tors who share cutting-edge insights, as well as lectures by Japa-nese specialists who touch on how to incorporate such knowledge in Japanese society, markets, and corporate culture.The second initiative features Thailand study tours for students of affiliate Catholic high schools. It is led by the Sophia Global Education and Discovery Co., Ltd. (GED), established in Bang-kok in 2019. GED is a local corporation focused on Southeast Asia that has ex-panded to collaborative research and other activities in Thailand.
