The project aims to revise the curriculum of UNAH’s Master’s Program in Human Resources Development for Socio-Economic Development (MCIGPD), including international cooperation and development project management, and to enhance the 22SOPHIA MAGAZINE Vol. 17Sophia’s role in UNAH’s international cooperation studies program Honduras is often referred to as a “showcase of international co-operation.” Though the Central American country has experi-enced steady economic growth in recent years, it still faces chal-lenges, and many countries and international organizations are providing development support. Sophia has been involved in JICA’s project to strengthen UNAH’s Master’s program to facili-tate socioeconomic development in Honduras since 2021.university’s ability to develop socioeconomic expertise to lead development initiatives in Honduras. Sophia has undertaken this project with Koei Research and Consulting (KRC), a firm involved in socioeconomic development of developing countries, and Sophia’s focus is mainly on academic aspects.The project team’s academic group includes Sophia Professor Yasuhiro Ueki (Master’s Program in International Cooperation Studies, Graduate School of Global Studies), Professor Noriko Hataya (Department of Hispanic Studies), Specially Appointed Professor Junko Sazaki, and Senshu University Professor Tomomi Kozaki. A number of Sophia Faculty members have made contributions In 2021, Sophia University joined the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project, in collaboration with Koei Research & Consulting (KRC), to promote socioeconomic development ex-perts in Honduras. Specifically, Sophia is providing academic and technical support for restructuring graduate programs offered by the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).
